Vintage Crafts From Another Life
In another life The Embellishment Connection used to include booths
in local antique malls. My partner and I would “pick” old barns, estate sales and thrift shops then merchandise our treasures in the booths.
Even the occasional dumpster dive yielded some unique artifacts. (One man’s trash…..) Our husbands thought we were crazy but it was the most fun.
Sometimes the pieces just needed a little cleaning up but often we’d make trash into beautiful treasure.
The best objects always came with a story. It’s preserving that history that keeps me energized and coming back. We gave up the booths when our bodies couldn’t haul the big stuff anymore but I’ll never get it out of my blood. I miss those days searching for nuggets.
Now I keep the items down to a reasonable size and get my kicks from making jewelry and other crafty projects.
and came from an estate sale. (One of our more productive “picking” trips) They were hiding among several old games until I dug them out. If they could only talk, can you just imagine the stories they would tell.

the paper to cover one side of the piece.
step 3: Adhere the paper to the
front side of the piece with something strong like E6000 and let it dry overnight. (If the other side is also pretty, wear that side!) I recommend you make several pieces at once. At this stage adhere any beads, stickers or other decorations to the front side.
step 4: Pour
Dimensional Magic on the paper side of the piece. The liquid will dome so stop just short of it dripping down the side. Be sure to lay the pieces on a flat surface and let them dry overnight.
step 5: Lightly sand the edges of the piece if needed.
step 6: Adhere the bail
to the center back with the E6000.
step 7: When the bail is
through it and enjoy your necklace!
